Abstract:Concepts and practices of native administration were introduced in the political organization, the taxation system, and the native courts, during a period wherein the military position of the British was weak. Therefore, we can say that the war provided an occasion for revolutionists to protest against measures which were taken by the colonial government, rather than that it was a basic cause. Viewed in that light, the movements of resistance in question, represented a stage before the nationalist movements in the post 1930's. This article describes a number of local revolts, which were rebellions against the colonial rule. Notes.
