| Abstract: | Offers an epical justification for violent revolution in the Republic of South Africa. Purpose is to show the necessity for counter-violence to bring about effective social change in the South African apartheid system and to show why non-violent methods (e.g. passive resistence, economic sanctions) have failed and will fail to bring about this change. The author sees violent revolution as the last resort and believes that by reviving discussion of traditional doctrines, particularly the Just War theory, new ground can be broken in analyzing the political situation in South Africa. Violent revolution is ethically and theologically justifiable to both the ethicist and the African political strategist. |
