Abstract: | Black consciousness is a potent force in South African politics, though hitherto its resources have remained largely untapped. The conceptualisation of Black consciousness in South Africa is described, together with some significant manifestations thereof, such as the South African Students' Organisation (Saso) and the Black People's Convention (BPC), as well as support from outside the movement, including marginal support from homeland-based African leaders. Notes, abstract. |
