Abstract: | Based on data collected by an ethnological field survey concerning the Iraqw from 1964 to 1965 on the northern slope of Mt. Hanang in north Tanzania. The author describes the brewing methods of Iraqw 'alcoholic drinks' and how they are used in social life in connection with the various ceremonies. On the other hand he tries to show that the introduced alcoholic drinks have not permeated deeply through social life. Ref., notes, figures. |
