| Abstract: | The concept of globalization interrelates at multiple levels of analysis: economic, political, cultural, and ideological. The author traces the interaction between the forces of globalization and the South African State, from the genesis of modern-day globalization in the European Renaissance, through the 18th and 19th centuries, when globalization went hand in hand with capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism, up to the end of the 20th century. Particular attention is paid to the relation between the process of globalization and South Africa's policy of apartheid. |
