Abstract:List of principal kinship terms which the author took down during his field studies among the Nilotic Luo of Western Kenya. Mainly linguistic material, in some oases supplemented by brief descriptions of the corresponding social relations and types of behaviour. Certain aspects of grammar hare been considered, especially the plural and the characteristic Nilotic possessive form. The kinship terms refer particularly to one part of the Luoland, the location of Alego, where they were originally recorded. They do not include linguistic and dialectical variations.
