Abstract:The early dominance of missions in the field of education in Tanzania has meant that a high proportion of secular leaders today has been educated in Christian schools. In fact the influence of Christians in Tanzania has been out of all proportion to their comparatively small overall numbers. Here the author explores several separate examples of the influence of mission education: early missionary activity on Kilimanjaro; White Fathers, Bukoba; Universities Mission to Central Africa, Zanzibar.
