Abstract: | Argues that a steady growth based on the intensification of internal linkages between sectors and branches is unlikely to come about as a result of agroindustriel export promotion. In order to subordinate industrial production to a pattern of selfreliant development, a general change in the industry's structure has to be assured: the composition of industrial output should be directed to mass consumption needs; the input needs of agriculture should receive more attention; and processing units should be placed near to agricultural areas delivering raw materials so as to relieve the situation of un- and underemployment in agriculture and to save costs of transport.
