Abstract: | The 'second Bandung' Afro-Asian Conference did not meet in Algiers in summer 1965 because most of the influential countries that had agreed to attend did not want it to meet; the coupt against President Ben Bella was not the cause of the postponement, it was merely the providential pretext There were, however, some Afro-Asian countries that did want the conference to be held. The article examinates the tussle between these two groups. In general the lack of enthusiasm among varying types of Afro-Asians for another Afro-Asian Conference was all too clear; according to the author a second Bandung will be held but it is most unlikely that there will be a third. |
