Abstract:Pseudo-magic cures are characteristic of Ethiopian medicine, and it appears that their influence brought about the inclusion also of magical formulae and the treatment of those conditions that are not diseases at all. The pseudo-magical prescriptions have their formulae in Ge'ez and the rest of the cure in Amharic, whereas the real cures are written only in Amharic. The text-book is important from a medical and linguistic point of view. After a biography of Gerazmac Gäbräväld follows on p. 99-127 the text in the original language. The translation of the text is on p. 128-168. Bibl., notes, index and explanations of the plant names used in the text.
