Abstract:At the beginning of the 18th century some Akan clans came together to form a kingdom with Kimase as their capitals The original home of the Asante was Adanse/Amansie. The movement of the ancestors of the Asante from Adanse/Amansie northward was the result of the interplay of several factors: political, commercial and demographical. It seems by the beginning of the second half of the 17th century that the earliest settlements had been founded or were in the process of being formed. Notes, maps.
