Abstract: | The first part of this article is a comparative study of form and content of the very earliest paper published in Sierra Leone, the Royal Gazette and Sierra Leone Advertizer (1817), and of its sister produced in the Gold Coast, the Royal Gold Coast Gazette and Commercial Intelligencer (1822). The second part is a brief history of the significan connections, later in the nineteenth century between Sierra Leone and the press history of Ghana (Accra Herald, West African Herald.
