Abstract: | This article emphasizes that contrary to earlier statements by Frelimo's leadership, which virtually condemned moderation and realism, Frelimo now accepts moderation and realism as guidelines for domestic and foreign policies. This attitude will be interpreted also as a modification of Fre-limo's approach to socialism. The main variables in the article are the concept of 'new man' in the post-colonial state in Mozambique, nationalization and its meaning, the theory of non-alignment in Frelimo's politics, and Mozambique internationalism.
