Abstract: | After an analysis of the circumstances surrounding the split of the National Party (NP) (a powerful section of the NP, led by Treurnicht, left the party to form the Conservative Party), the article is concerned with the question of whether the National Party split is a division of deep principle or a clash of personalities and a matter of presentation of policy. At the end is discussed the consequences of the split for the white, black, coloured and Indian population. Notes. |
