| Abstract: | In terms of their historical evolution and socio-economic infrastructures, Benin and Congo/Brazzaville are quite different. In the spheres of ideology and socio-economic development, both countries manifest immense cleavages between rhetoric and reality. The article describes the background to the Benin revolution and its ideology 'Socialism is our chosen path; Marxism-Leninism is our guide', as well as the background to the Congolese revolution and its ideology 'Socialism under the sign of the gun, instrument of progress and of political conscience of the Congolese people'.
