| Abstract: | ALMADA, born ca. 1550 in the Cape Verde Islands, was involved in trading to various parts of the mainland, especially in the 1570s. His treatise, covering almost completely the coast between Cape Verde and the shoals of St. Ann, is outstandingly informative about the role of the Cape Verde Islands in the coastal economy and the shape of the mainland societies with which the islanders were in contact. |
