Abstract:The hintertown provides a spatial and economic strategy for the decentralization of industry and its accompanying infrastructure, integrating the rural areas into national development schemes, which then strengthen administrative organizations to enforce legal measures protecting the rural and hintertown environment accompanied by techniques and methods for improving the rural settlements themselves. The article describes the role of hintertowns in developing rural areas, the planning for hintertowns and the possible locations of hintertowns and ends with some examples of rural settlement programmes.
