| Abstract: | Tema township is the first West African town to be thoroughly planned right from the start. This article ties to show some of the advantages which will be gained and something of the history of the scheme which is already well under way. It is an international project, a joint experiment in urban planning. British contractors laid the foundations, Greek consultating engeneers are in charge of the city centre; the Russians are building two of the 12 projected communities. The Ghanaian Tema development corporation is co-ordinating the work as it proceeds. Photos. |
