Abstract:Trade union growth in Nigeria dates from 1938 when the government passed the Trades Union Ordinance. The increase in the number of unions increased also the number of industrial disputes. Another problem were misappropriations of union funds by union officials. It was generally held that these problems could be overcome if the unions and their leaders were given adequate trade union education. In this paper the several stages of this trade union education, originated by the government and in which task also other institutions participated - is described in detail. Ref., notes.
