Abstract:At its special conference in December 1967 the Trade Union Council of South Africa (T.U.C.S.A.) decided to exclude African unions from affiliation At the Annual Conference in April 1968 was voted in favour of allowing African unions to affiliate to T.U.G.S.A. The reasons behind this reversal are analysed and new data provided regarding the economic situation in South Africa, the position of the white labour aristocracy and its relation to the revolutionary liberation movement.
