Abstract:Purpose is to offer an exploratory assessment of some of the effects of cargo unitization in some African countries (Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Mozamblque, Nigeria, Zaire). The paper emphasizes the economic consequences of unitization alone, without implying that social costs and benefits are unimportant.
