Abstract: | During the last five years the fusion between the political and the religious spheres in Uganda has become so intense and its consequences so profound that in at least two (Anglican and Catholic) of the three main religious denominations (the third one is Islam), it has threatened the entire basis of their denominational organization. This article analyses the contribution to clerical and general religious involvement in politics of organizational and authority relationships within the Ugandan churches themselves. Sections: historical background - intra-church stress - complementarity of stress. Notes. |
