Negritude
Abstract:The president of the Republic of Senegal, Leopold SÚdar Senghor is relevant because of his position as one of the founders of, and leading spokesmen for, the negritude movement. In this article two closely-related problems are dealt with: some of the weaknesses of translations of Senghor's poems in English and a discussion of what the term negritude means to Senghor. Notes.
