Abstract: | Important changes are taking place in South Africa; some in response to the needs of economy, others in response to internal and external pressures. It is essential for the liberation movement to assess the nature of the pressures, changes and adaptations, and whether there has been any fundamental change. Sections immigration drying up - outliving the colour bar - trade union die-hards - the rational of profit-making - the economics of politics - trade unions and leadership - no fundamental change.
