Abstract: | The author's special interest is the Axumitic literature and especially the Qerellos, the dogmatic patristic compendium and the fundamental theological hook of the Ethiopian Church. He presents a survey of his investigations and discoveries, in respect of two causes: 1. lately there has arisen a hard new discussion - especially in Germany - about the dating of the beginning of the Axumitic period and of the Qerellos too, 2. the interest in studies concerning the historical and theological basis of Ethiopia and its Church. Conclusion: the Qerellos vere translated in the Axumite period, notably in the beginning of the 6th century, directly from a Greek pattern; the Christology in the Qerellos reproduces clearly Cyrill's theology, which means that Ethiopian Christology is verbal-monophysite, anti-nestorian and achalcedonian; King 'Ezana must be placed in the middle of the 4th century.
