Abstract:There appears to be general agreement that it was W.H.I. Bleek who coined the term 'Bantu', but there is some discrepancy as to when. From information drawn from the literature it would appear that the date for the publication of the term 'Bantu' by Bleek can be pushed back four years to 1858. References. (See also a note by P.E.H.
