Abstract:Using the life-history method the author deals with school leavers from the point of view of one particular boy. The account is of one young Ghanaian, Kofi, an orphan, whose hometown was Larteh in Southern Ghana. Kofi's story is in general a familiar one, and illustrative of the plight of thousands of other West African boys. A brief summary is given of Kofi's early life, then is dealt with his search for employment from mid-1966 to mid-1968. In conclusion the author comments on some of Kofi's values as expressed in his words and actions. Ref.
