Abstract: | This particial survey of the Baraguyu (Kwavi) people is not the result of a careful sociological study but of casual contact with these people by an anthropologist pursuing other full-time work at the time (1957/58) the dada were collected. This study is admittedly lacking in much critical information, especcially concerning social structure. The nearly complete lack of information on the Baraguyu plus their uniqueness both as the southernmost of African Nilo-Hamites and as the geographically dispersed tribe in East Africa make, however, even incomplete information on them of some interest and value. The article comprises 3 parts: 1. Derivation, distribution and economy; 2. Baraguyu Camps Households, general rotes as determined by age and sex. 3. Conclusion. Bibl. Ill, map, drawings, tables. |
