Abstract:This study on peasants and peasant behaviour in communal agriculture in ujamaa villages examines the differences between men and women in the degree of their participation in communal production and determines whether there are significant differences between them in the relationship of their characteristics and attitudes to the degree of their participation. Sections: 1) Men vs women differences in the degree of participation in communal work. 2) Men vs women: accounting for differences in the degree of participation in communal work (meaning of ujamaa - wealth - age - education - party membership - satisfaction with life - aspirations for the good life - motives for joining village - like/dislike communal work). 3) Summary and conclusions.
