Abstract:By 1935 Ireland had approximately 2000 missionaries in Africa. In this investigation of the nature of the impulse which gave rise to the modern Irish missionary movement an attempt is made to discover the motivations which prompted so many to involve themselves in the modern missionary movement between 1910-1935.
