Abstract: | Most of the military conflicts between the colonial governments and the indigenous inhabitants had gone down in history as military expeditions, meant to result in the 'pacification' of the 'lawless and barbarous peoples'. This paper questions the validity of these ideas and also seeks to determine the responsibility of the colonial governor, the British Colonial Secretary and the British government. Notes. |
