Abstract: | Educational and training institutes are directly concerned with producing candidates for employment in both public and private sectors aecording to the individual abilities. Consequently it is instructive to study the products of these institutions, partly to ascertain the occupational preferences of potential graduates, partly to reveal the degree of guidance preceding occupational choices of new graduates, and partly to see what jobs new graduates fill compared with unfilled vacancies. The data for this research were obtained from two sets of of materials collected and collated in a nationwide study of Nigerian University graduates at the point of completing their National Youth Service, and of potential graduates at the point of securing their first degrees from the six Nigerian universities existing in the 1974/5 academic year. The data highlight crucial characteristics if employment in Nigeria, Bibl., notes, tables. |
