Abstract: | Publication of an interview with Dr. Attati Mpakati, currently the National Chairman of the Socialist League of Malawi (LESOMA), and a former leader of the militant anticolonial Nyasaland National Congress (proscribed by Banda in 1959). Mpakati was himself detained, and subsequently left Malawi in 1961. In the interview he describes current economic and political conditions in Malawi, and the main orientations of LESOMA in its opposition to the Banda dictatorship. |
