Abstract: | Comparative analysis of African traditional and Western systems of thought. Attention is focused on the explanatory, cosmological, epistemological and ethical dimensions of thought associated with each of the two types of society, the traditional African society and the Western industrial society. An attempt is made to identify some of the basic characteristics differentiating the two societies into which the societies of the world are being divided la current sociological analysis. The educational implications of aspects of the systems of thought are explored, the discussion in this respect is related as much as possible to the Nigerian context. Notes. |
