Abstract: | An examination of traditional festivals in Ghana, and in particular the Kundum Festival (celebrated each year between July and October by the Ahanta-Nzema), reveals that the actor, performer and the audience are engaged in a drama that continually defines their identity, restates their primary concerns in life and seeks to preserve their integrity as a people. Such drama deserves to be examined in its own right without reference to a set of preconceived standards. Notes. |
