Abstract:In Zambia there is no explicit and coherent statement of population policies. The most eloquent explanation for this state of affairs is that population policies are unknowingly embodied in the various actions of government. This obscures their existence as a distinct set of government policies. The reciprocal influence between development actions and demographic variables is evident. While demographic variables directly and indirectly affect the state of Zambia's economy, development actions influence demographic change. The present paper is an attempt to identify population policies in Zambia by extracting these policies from their embodiment in development actions. Notes, ref.
