Abstract:This paper presents a comparative sketch of the situation and condition of refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) in Africa and examines the role of the international community in the current refugee crises in the continent. It gives attention to the most important countries of origin and the most important countries of asylum in 1995 and discusses Africa's contribution to and capacity for managing the problems of refugees and IDPs, as well as the issue of discriminatory humanitarian intervention by the international community.
