Abstract: | This paper describes the nutritional status of 75 male and 73 female Pygmy hunter-gatherers as well as the daily physical activity, energy and major nutrient intake, and total daily energy expenditure of two married couples. It is based on a survey which was conducted in September and October 1996 in three Baka village camps in southeast Cameroon. Despite the limited sample size and survey duration, the results of the study indicate that the energy intake and energy expenditure of Cameroonian Baka hunter-gatherers are relatively low, which may enable them to adapt to low food availability in the village camps during the rainy season.
