Abstract: | 'Just peace' follows the lives of three children in North and South Sudan. Their experiences of conflict and hopes for a peaceful future are set within the context of the peace process and interviews with politicians on both sides, from May 2004 up to the peace agreement of January 2005 between the Government of Sudan and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM). Extras: Sudan voices: children in conflict. Children from South Sudan speak about their experiences in the military during the conflict and talk about their new lives under peace. Forgotten victims: Sulwa is one of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese displaced by the fighting between the north and the south. The Mediator: Retired Kenyan General Lazaro Sumbeiywo was the man in the middle of the peace talks. He speaks about his role in directing the parties towards peace. Across the lines: The contrast between lives under SPLM/A and Government control in Bahr el Ghazal. Arkangelo lives in SPLM/A-controlled Malwal Kon. Rebecca and Rosetta live across the line in Wau, a garrison town controlled by the government. [Abstract reproduced from dvd] |
