Abstract: | This paper discusses public policymaking in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994, concentrating on nation building. It describes institutional mechanisms for policymaking and implementation as well as associated outcomes; presents a brief perspective on social policy; and concludes with a section, on a case of nation building, which discusses the nature and extent of cohesiveness of the South African geographic and State entity. It concludes that public policymaking in South Africa has been undertaken relatively well and that the consequent results are commendable. Bibliogr., notes, ref., sum. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
