Abstract: | The author presents amendments and comments on the 86 crops examined in his previous paper on the same subject ('The European introduction of crops into West Africa in precolonial times'), which was published in 1992 in History in Africa, vol. 19. Furthermore, he adds information on the most important plants from some 160 more exotic plants dating to the slave-trade era which reached western Africa, including various cereals, root crops, pulses, oil plants, vegetables, cucurbits, fruits, spices and flavourings, beverage plants and non-food plants, including ornamentals.
