Abstract:The papers in this volume are the outcome of a seminar on India's relations with francophone Africa which was organized in 2006 by the Jawaharlal Nehru University in collaboration with the African Studies Association of India. Topics discussed include the prospects and challenges of India-Francophone Africa relations in the context of globalization, also in comparison with the engagement of other external powers such as China and France, development cooperation and economic relations, especially in the energy, pharmaceuticals and maritime sectors, and the role of the Indian diaspora in promoting bilateral cooperation.
