Abstract: | University librarians across the SADC region are involved in a wide range of new projects, including digitization of scholarly resources, interdisciplinary approaches to teaching library science, and developing the Learning Commons for all library users. This issue of 'Innovation' presents a cross-section of such experiments and developments: Visioning and strategising for the University of Namibia Library: planning the Library's facilities, services and resources for the aspired Library Vision (Ellen Ndeshi Namhila and Joseph Ndinoshiho); Assessment of the Learning Commons takeoff at the University of Botswana Library (Olugbade Oladokun); Creating digital library collections: the experience of Malawi university libraries (Geoffrey Francis Salanje); Library and information studies interdisciplinary practice in Africa (Stephen M. Mutula); Planning for the University of Malawi Library automation project (Kondwani Wella). [ASC Leiden abstract] |
