Abstract: | Cooperation between CEPED, Centre Population et Développement, in Paris, and five demographic research centres located in French-speaking West Africa, Centre de Formation et de Recherche en matière de Population (CEFORP, Benin), Institute Supérieur des Sciences de la Population (ISSP, Burkina Faso), Institut de Formation et de Recherche Démographique (IFORD, Cameroon), École Nationale Supérieure de Statistique et d'Économie Appliquée (ENSEA, Côte d'Ivoire) and Unité de Recherche Démographique (URD, Togo) has existed since the creation of CEPED in 1988. The expansion of internet use has transformed this collaboration and currently the six centres are linked in a network whose main objective is to promote the adoption of information and communication technologies by demographers in French-speaking Africa. Most of the centres have a library managed by a professional. This article describes cooperation as it has developed within the network and outlines current and future projects involving demographers, librarians and computer scientists. Ref.
