Abstract: | This study examines the impact of AIDS-education programmes among patrons of bars and hotels in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nigeria. Its aim is to measure the extent to which respondents' HIV/AIDS knowledge in terms of transmission and prevention improved in the period following intervention. Specifically, the study focuses on the promotion of various preventive methods, such as condom use. Data for the study were collected at two levels: 1) a pre-intervention baseline survey; 2) post-intervention questionnaires. The findings show that multiple socioeconomic and cultural factors influence patronage of bars and hotels in Abuja, and HIV/AIDS programme interventions had a positive impact on respondents' knowledge of HIV/AIDS, as well as their adoption of preventive measures.
