Abstract: | This article describes the experiences of health care workers and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in communication on Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART). The study was conducted in a number of hospitals in Namibia. Health care workers were asked about their communication skills, counselling skills and HIV/AIDS knowledge, and the factors that deterred them from effectively communicating with PLWHA on HAART. The PLWHA were asked about the type of information they obtained from health care workers that improved their knowledge about their health. The authors determine a number of factors that prevent health care workers and PLWHA from communicating effectively in this setting. Bibliogr., sum. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
