Abstract: | Women constitute about half of the population of Nigeria, yet there is a pronounced level of underrepresentation of women in political leadership positions when compared with their male counterparts. This article sets apart factors contributing to the discrimination of women in Nigeria, under the umbrella of the concept of patriarchy. The authors look for practical solutions to this problem, and stress the importance of the family in finding these. Bibliogr., sum. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
