| Abstract: | This article discusses the state of preparations of Uganda's 2016 general elections and their likely implications. The article analyses the social, political and economic factors affecting the elections and, potentially, their outcome. Specifically, the article covers the following areas: the state of the economy; the actual management of the elections by the current EC; the state of the political parties and civil society; and electoral reforms, among others. Methodologically, the article is a product of desk research including a review of primary documents (government and civil society organization reports) and secondary sources (books, journal articles, newspapers).
