Abstract: | This article analyses the concept of citizenship in contemporary times, with special attention for the Nigerian context. The author argues that citizenship is presented as an objective status. However, the author states, citizenship is embedded in a context of differences of class, ethnic identity, rights et cetera. The author argues that the concept of citizenship is therefore subjective, and needs to be seen within the context of socio-economic differences. Bibliogr., sum. [ASC Leiden abstract] |
