Abstract: | The contributions to this collective volume deal with various aspects of local government in Nigeria. Section 1 'Theories and issues' addresses topics such as native authority, constitutional matters, the doctrine of separation of power, intergovernmental relations, and the revenue allocation system. Section 2 'Policy analysis and prescriptions' focuses on corruption, issues of nation-building at the local level, health care delivery, culture administration and the relationship between local leadership and political obligations. Section 3 'Global viewpoints' looks beyond Nigeria. This section has a general chapter on democracy and local governance and a chapter on visions on local government administration in Zimbabwe.
